Jane Frances Reilly - Object and jewellery artist

Jane is a Melbourne based artist who works with familiar domestic objects making pieces that speak of her experiences in life. In a world full of products without meaning, Jane strives to make sense of things through interpreting shadows, what lies behind and what lies in mark making.

This body of work holds the secrets of where Jane has come from, by their very nature, they enable the viewer to interact and curate their own interpretation of the works. These objects, inspired by the domestic, have been work hardened and can be easily moved within their stands. There are infinite combinations of colour and positioning for these sculptures, enabling the viewer to change the sculpture overlaying their own stories and sensibilities. They are whimsical, playful and a delight to look at.

When speaking of her work, Jane says "Over the years of making, one creates a language of forms and mark making. I make vessels as an exploration of the interior and exterior of oneself within the group there is a quietness and solitude also a collective communication making calms and grounds me. It's part of who I am, what I feel and how I’ve got here."

"I reach into myself, and inevitably pull things out that make sense to me. I make my own language of things. My subject is abstract- from memories of things that have no words, just fleeting glimpses I aim to capture in my work."

Jane also produces a stunning range of Fine Art Jewellery which is on display in the gallery an in our stockroom. Each piece is a handcrafted work of art.
